Past Projects and Events
Beginning in 2000, the brochures, Raising Kids Who Thrive, were developed for our local medical community and beyond. Search Institute purchased the copyrights during 2004 to make them available to the Clarkston community and throughout the country.
In 2002, Clarkston Coalition for Youth coordinated the effort to launch a community wide web site. United Way Web Site – www.volunteersolutions.org/general
The United Way web site became available on Oct. 19, 2002. It is for nonprofit agencies seeking volunteers or individuals looking to volunteer in our community.
In 2003, the Clarkston Coalition for Youth was involved in the development of the Clarkston Community Calendar Website – www.ClarkstonCalendar.org
Thanks to Ind. Township, Clarkston Schools & Chamber of Commerce this calendar continues to be the community calendar for Clarkston.
Also in 2003, the Coalition coordinated the first ever Summer Happenings Expo. This is wonderful opportunity for Clarkston community members to discover what’s happening in our community. The Expo is an event to discover and experience what Clarkston has to offer. Since then, the expo has changed its name to the Clarkston Connects Community Expo and has also grown to reach nearly 1000 community members the day of the event. Every group, business or organization that is offering a program, event or activity is encouraged to attend.
In the spring of 2004, the Spring Break Brochure was released to all high school families. Since that year the brochure is made available each spring to families of 8th graders.
In January 2005, the Each One Reach One Connecting for a Better Community Clarkston campaign was kicked off. This campaign continues to be an integral part of what Clarkston is all about. www.clarkstonconnects.org
In May 2006, participation in the Transitional Day provided parents with information regarding the transition to the 8th-9th grade building while students experienced speakers, hands-on activities and learned about the new building they would be attending in the fall. Transitional Day is still provided for students and parents today.
